A lot of the pretty, twenty-somethings in these bars might be looking for something more than just a drink.
Hey, we get it, living in New York City as a recent grad or struggling millennial dream chaser can get pretty rough. Minimum wage and unpaid internships can’t pay our insanely high rents and living expenses anymore. Some choose to turn to an older mentor or partner to help make ends meet.
If you’re looking for a mutually beneficial arrangement to finance some or all parts of your life, these might be a few good spots to visit. You might not find love per se, but a sugar daddy of sorts could be at the bar and ready to shower you with love and gifts.
Vin Sur Vingt
Address: 201 W 11th Street
Any bar with an extensive wine list with loads of rare bottles and a weathered sommelier is sure to attract some older, wealthy bachelors. I find that this sultry, low-lit nook is a great place to toss on a slinky dress and shop for a financier. If he’s generous, be sure to indulge in a pricey bottle (some are over $1,000!) and some pate de campagne.
Address: 80 Columbus Circle
Exciting, fancy and really different 👌Having cocktails and appetizers with our friends from @mo_newyork last night was literally amazing! Thanks so much for inviting us to such an inspiring cocktailhour🍸🥃🍾🔥 • • • #KeepYourLifeInMotion #dreambigtravelbigger #mandarinoriental #newyork #cocktails #cocktailhour #aviary #mofoodies #theaviarynyc #experience #bar #travelawesome #tasting #travelagency
On the top floor of the high class Mandarin Oriental hotel in Columbus Circle lies the uber-exclusive Aviary where it’s near impossible to reserve a table. If your potential sugar daddy is taking you here, he’s a keeper. If you can manage to reserve a spot, or sneak your way over from the bar (the Office), you’ll definitely find a selection of eligible men. With theatrical cocktails all priced around $30, this is a great place to find a special mentor.
Address: 35 E 76th St, Carlyle Hotel
Dark and sensual bars in the Upper East Side all scream opportunities to me when it comes to the sugar daddy search. But Bemelmans is a surefire success spot, complete with the classic chocolate-brown leather banquettes and a ceiling covered in 24-karat gold leaves. Everything about this place says luxury and affluence–as do many of the patrons within.
Address: 130 E 39th St, The Court
Most hotel bars and lounges are definite spots for sugar shopping, but this New American corner stop is an unexpected surprise for a wide variety of top dollar bachelors. Maybe it’s the private leather booths, maybe it’s the decadent, velvet stanchions seemingly separating the high from the low, but this is definitely a good spot to hit for your next loan bill supplement.
Address: 2 Lexington Ave
Think deep red tones all around the room, super high ceilings and an instantly intimate atmosphere. Rose Bar might not be the best place to make friends, but it’s the spot for meeting your next sugar. The cliquish feel makes for great anti-social company and minimal unnecessary mingling. Find your financier and get to work while enjoying an upscale cocktail–you deserve it, sugar baby.
