New York City can be obscenely expensive. But hopefully you have a little cash left over after you’ve paid the rent. So celebrate your wealth (or pocket change) by making it rain at one of these excellent happy hour spots.
1. Ten Degrees:
Address: 121 St Marks Place, East Village
This bar was already given a rave review here, largely due to the fact that every drink is two for one from noon to 8 pm, including the weekends. Not only are the drinks affordable at $10-12 each, but they’re strong. I’ve drank NYC up and down, so I can say with confidence that the jalapeno margaritas are some of the best in the city.
2. Botanica Bar
Address: 47 E Houston Street, Nolita
While we regret & apologize for the late post, it's #DICKNIGHT at #karaoke and we've been too busy rehearsing our dick songs to bother with Instagram. Get in here and replace all the nouns, objects, subject, verbs, etc. of your favorite songs with "My Dick!" Trust us, you'll love it and never forget your first time.
An intentionally divey, no frills bar known for its 70/80’s music, eclectic crowd and drink specials. Happy hour is from 6-8 pm daily, featuring $4 well drinks, $3-$5 beers and $5 wines. That’s basically free.
Address: 110 Rivington Street, LES
@malayamuseek & @itaikriss on a break from his #flute using his fingers for Verlaine’s #ClassicWings. What’s better looking, out wings or hers? :). Oh and we forgot to mention: Last Thursday we hit 16years on Rivington Street!!! Thank you All so much. #VerlaineInstitution. Eat. 2001. #LES #NYC #MomAndPopShop #elbarrio
In the heart of LES stands Verlaine, a trendy cocktail and dinner spot, which is often packed on any given Saturday night. At Verlaine, happy hour is everyday from 5-10 pm, with $6 lychee martinis, $6 red and white sangrias, $6 house wine and well drinks, and $4 Yuenglings. Word on the street is that the lychee martinis are the far and away favorite.
4. Art Bar
Address: 52 8th Ave, West Village
Any bar with couches becomes an instant favorite in my book, and Art Bar has them in spades. Past the traditional bar near the entrance, the bar opens up into a second room with darkly painted walls, wrap around leather sofas and a fireplace. With its dim lighting and tight quarters, Art Bar makes the perfect spot for an after date or after work drink. Happy hour is from 4-7 pm daily with all draft beers, well drinks and house wines for $3.50. That’s only a little more expensive than one swipe on the subway, but a much better return on investment.
Address: 162 W 4th Street, West Village
Oppa has more of a happy day than a happy hour. From 1-7 pm daily, Oppa offers $4 well drinks, $4 house wine, $5 draft beers, selected $6 cocktails, with wings, fries and sliders ranging from $2-$6 each. Oppa is kind of all over the board in terms of cuisine: it offers traditional bar food, Korean street food and sushi, but it’s clear Oppa has one goal in mind, and that’s to get you drunk.
