Three years after closing its doors on Queen’s Boulevard, P.J. Horgan’s has returned to Sunnyside, this time at 49-02 Skillman Ave.
Paying homage to it’s original location, which opened almost 50 years ago, the new bar is adorned with an “Est. 1963” emblem, Sunnyside Post reported.
Although it’s been three years since the first P.J. Horgan’s closed, the new set up isn’t a surprise. Joe Gillespie, P.J. Horgan’s co-owner, told the Sunnyside Post that he started looking for a new location as soon as the first one shut down.
“We are happy to be open,” Gillespie said.
Since opening back up earlier in March, the bar has been serving up craft and draft beers, whiskey, gin, and well drinks. Happy hour is until 7 and will get you a deal on pretty much everything.
It’s a classic Irish pub with a couple of booths, plenty of seats at the wooden bar, and a laid back atmosphere.
For food, P.J. Horgan’s offers standard pub fare that old fans will recognize. Chicken wings, burgers, sandwiches, and soups are all on the menu with modest prices ranging from $12 to $15.
