As a lifelong Friends enthusiast, there’s pretty much no way I could ever forgive actor Justin Theroux for ending things with Jennifer Aniston. But the Inland Empire actor just opened a new divey cocktail bar in the Lower East Side, and — well — it honestly looks like a pretty cool spot.
According to Theroux’s Instagram post, the actor teamed up with a few friends to open Ray’s, a place where “nobody knows your name,” according to the caption. In the photo, Theroux is posing on a pool table with his dog, including a shot of Western-style street art on the outside wall.
While the new bar took over former French Bistro Le Turtle, the Le Turtle team (which includes Freemans’ Taavo Somer and the Smile’s Carlos Quirarte) also appear to be partners at Ray’s, according to W Magazine. Somer, Quirarte, and Theroux are all tagged in a promotional photo on Ray’s Instagram, so it looks like there aren’t any hard feelings.
Jon Neidich from the Happiest Hour and artist Matt McCormick are tagged in it as well.
Theroux has prior experience with Le Turtle before his new venture. Le Turtle opened a private dining room called Subturtle a few years back, according Eater, and Theroux took part in promoting it. Maybe he’s good friends with the owners, or maybe he just loves a good Foie Gras.
Anyway, Ray’s Bar is located at 177 Chrystie Street, and will serve a variety of cocktails and beer, according to the website. It’s open from 5 P.M. to 2 A.M., so it’s safe to say you’ll be there a while. Hope to see you there!
